I'm Xiaoxing Hu, a software engineer based in Auckland. I've been building software for more than fifteen years, mostly across the full stack, and I've moved through enough stacks to care more about fundamentals than about whatever is new this year.

This site is where I keep what I make and learn outside of work: the projects, small tools for my own setup, and the writing about how they came together.

I care about software freedom and owning my data, so I lean towards simple, plain-text tools. Most of my day happens in Emacs, with Neovim close by, and this site is written in org-mode and built with orgajs.

Outside of code I have three kids, and a long habit of refining my setup a little more than it needs.
